A couple have been advised to ‘start looking for a new house’ after finding a disturbing detail they missed before buying a property.
TikTok user @Slowgoldie shared a video explaining that her best friend had just bought a house with her boyfriend, and on their first night her friend sent her a video tour so she could see what it looked like.
During the tour, the new homeowner runs upstairs and says “and this is our bedroom”, pointing out the big window and a random cable on the floor before noticing a large key left on top of a plug socket.
Intrigued, she figures out that it must be used for the lock on the wooden bedroom door, before spotting a slightly more sinister detail.
She says: “Does that not look like… what? You can padlock the door closed from the outside? That’s.. what?”, looking very baffled before quickly carrying on the tour to move across the landing into the nursery.
The clip has been watched more than 8.2 million times, and viewers didn’t help the situation by drawing attention to another worrying detail that others missed.
One person commented to say: “Why is no one talking about the person-shaped stain on the floor?”
A second wrote: “The stain on the floor looks like a person.”
And another asked: “Did anyone see the outline of a trapdoor in the carpet or am I anxious.”
Many people came up with their own more innocent theories, saying the lock was probably there to protect valuables, with one suggesting: “Maybe they didn’t want people snooping through their stuff when they left for the weekend and it was just simple to add that lock.”
Someone else said: “My ex was a sleepwalker and his parents had to do this to him when he was a child, otherwise he would hurt himself regularly.”
But not everyone was convinced there was a harmless explanation, as one fired back: “Someone was definitely held captive there. Just by feeling the energy off this room.”
A second replied: “Well that is concerning”, and a third said: “I would simply pass away.”
Another added: “Nice, a fresh murder house.”
And someone else asked: “So is your best friend looking for a new house now or…?”
